Most of these changes have been well-publicized, but some of them are secret changes. Heres what you need to note.Reading Section ChangesYou will still getthree or four passages to read.If you get four passages, one of them will be an experimental passage that is not graded.Each reading passage will have 9 or 10 questions, instead of 12 to 14 questions. You will be given54 minutes (three passages) or 74 minutes (four passages) to finish the reading section.This means you will have about 18 minutes per passage and105 seconds per question(instead of 90 seconds like on the old test). Note that you may be required to achieve increased accuracy, so it is not safe to say that this change makes the reading s ection easier.If the total number of questions for a passage is9, that means a fill in a table question will appear as the last question. According to ETS, each passage will have exactly 10 questions every time, but this is incorrect information.The articles are the same length and difficulty level as before.Thesame typesof questions are used. Note that fill in a table and pronounreference questions havereturned to the test. The two novels â€Å"Great Expectations† and â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird† relate us about discrimination during two different periods in history, even though their characters have similar characteristics. The society represented in these books is unequal, because powerful people tended to be more dominant over the poor ones. Certainly, it reflects the disadvantages of not having an education, and remarks that without it, people have no principles. Hypocritical governments and corrupt police were prone to taking bribes and gang wars were common, most notably the gang wars revolving around the infamous Al Capone. This article is a credible source as it was written by Rodney Carlisle a professor at the Rutgers University in New Jersey. Carlisle has a PhD in history from the University of California and earned an AB in history from the prestigious Harvard College which proves that Carlisle has an extensive knowledge of American history, the 1920s included. This article is immensely useful when it comes to studying the themes of The Great Gatsby. The article covers what life was like back in the 1920s and just how much crime and bootleg ging influenced Gatsbys fortune. The concept of the American Dream is as stated: The American Dream is set of ideals stating that in the United States freedom includes opportunities to obtain prosperity, success, and upward social mobility through hard work no matter what an individuals racial, religious, or economic background is.. Based on this ideology, the American Dream is all about working hard to be able to achieve prosperity and success. However, bootlegging and gang violence are nowhere near this ideology, in fact they are the twisted perversion of the American Dream that is portrayed by Fitzgerald in The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald also portrays how the American dream has degraded and become unachievable for the poor by including characters such as George Wilson as these characters are broken from the long hours of labour they endure.
